I-16

The first flight of I-16 was made by famous Soviet test pilot Valery Chkalov in December 1933. It was developed by Polikarpov’s design bureau in 1933. I-16 took part in several wars, such as in Spain, China, Mongolia and WWII. There were made 6555 planes of this type. The most advanced modifications of this plane was armed with 20 mm cannons and unguided rockets. A lot of these planes were exported to different countries and now you can see it at Sokol airbase.
