The Museum of Russian Vodka
In our multilingual world it would be very difficult to find person who doesn’t associate Russia with “Vodka”. Obviously, not only by this drink but also with “Matreshka” (Nesty doll), caviar, bear and other symbols of Russia.
Such association is absolutely clear because Vodka has become an essential drink and presents on the table when Russians celebrate birthdays, weddings, funerals and other less important events.
For Russians vodka is a drink close to human’s soul used both in joy and in sorrow. Vodka in Russia is irreplaceable drink that used for all purposes, the subject of novels and poems, songs and legends. That’s why Russian people have created the Museum dedicated to the history of Russian Vodka. Visiting the museum you will obtain essential information about the history of Vodka, culture of drinking, what food is the best to go with it, what is vodka made of, when the first vodka monopoly was introduced and see the huge collection of different items of Vodka.
You will even find out that within the history Vodka was even used as a national currency. People paid for different kind of services by it so that not to pay by cash. What is more, at the beginning of 20s during the financial crisis in Siberia people started using Vodka’s labels as money!
This drink also presents in Russian folklore. In other words Vodka is one of the most important elements of Russian life, culture and national mentality. That’s why Russians decided to create the museum of Russian vodka that has about 2707 different types of this drink.
Our guide will take you on a tour through Russian vodka history, demonstrate the vodka distillation process, and illustrate just how important vodka traditions have been in Russia.
When visiting the Vodka Museum, guests will be able to sample various vodkas and traditional foods at the on-site restaurant or "tractir” or purchase Russian Vodka Souvenirs.
